At Gujarat Natural Farming Science
University (GNFSU), this mantra inspires every step we take
towards redefining agriculture in India through the lens of nature.
Education is a dynamic, ever-evolving process shaped by national priorities and global trends. In
the context of Natural Farming, it becomes even more vital to address urgent needs in research,
extension, and education. Today, the world faces an alarming nexus of environmental degradation,
soil infertility, and declining human and animal health—much of it driven by overdependence on
chemical inputs. Natural Farming emerges as a timely and sustainable solution.
Recognizing the immense potential and need for a paradigm shift, the Government of Gujarat
established Gujarat Natural Farming Science University, the first of its kind in India and the
world, through the GNFSU Act No. 16 of 2017, amended by Act No. 2 of 2022 and further amended in
2023. The University is a visionary outcome of the Gujarat Organic Farming Policy–2015, located at
the serene Jambudi Farm in Halol Block of Panchmahal District.
With a focus on natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, soil and water stewardship,
nutrient recycling, promotion of native seeds and local brands, and market linkages at the
grassroots, GNFSU is committed to a transformative journey. Our integrated mandate encompasses
education, research, and extension education in Natural Farming.
Natural Farming in India is more than a technique, it is a way of life. Strengthening this ethos
uplifts farmer livelihoods, ensures food security, and restores ecological harmony. Gujarat has
consistently led the nation in agricultural growth over the past decade. GNFSU will play a pivotal
role in sustaining and enhancing this trajectory by serving as a centre of excellence for Natural
Farming.
I am honoured to lead this pioneering institution. With the unwavering support of our Hon. Governor
and Chancellor, Hon. Chief Minister, Hon. Ministers of Agriculture, and the collaborative spirit of
the State and Central Governments, GNFSU is poised to achieve great milestones. Our faculty,
researchers, and staff are united in their commitment to bring meaningful impact to farmers,
science, and society.
Together, let us cultivate a future where agriculture is naturally prosperous, ecologically sound,
and resilient.
